Goldie (Max Julien) is The Mack, a sharp, smooth talking hustler who returns to the ‘hood after five years in prison. He’s joined by his street-wise sidekick Slim (comic legend Richard Pryor) and tough talking brother (Roger E. Mosley).

Goldie winds up king of the pimping game. Trouble comes in the form of two corrupt white cops and a crime lord who wants him to return to the small time.

THE MACK has become a cult classic, achieving an extraordinary level of fame throughout the African-American community and the film industry. It now ranks as one of the fifty most requested films on video in America.

Entertainment Weekly named THE MACK as number 20 of the top 50 classic cult films of all time. This acceptance was just heightened by the Bancroft Library at the University of California, Berkeley, archiving THE MACK as a great piece of contemporary American film culture.
